Five Wells in Zambia in the Mission Centres of Father Jakub Rostworowski
Due to the funds obtained, the Foundation succeeded, first of all, in digging two wells in the Parish of Zambia, managed also by Father Jakub Rostworowski.
The first shallow well was dug at the site of the centre for orphans and people suffering from AIDS; the other well, a deep one, located at the mission station, will supply a kindergarten and an agricultural training centre with water.
In autumn 2009, other wells were dug; one of them will facilitate to run a garden for orphans, due to the second well, widows can run a chicken farm and a vegetable path; an other well is dug at the Sanctuary of Marian. The need is extensive; when digging, workers come across rocks and it significantly hinders and extends their work. Missions all the time rely upon the Foundation's assistance.
A shallow 6-meter well supplies water to a vegetable path. It will allow to feed orphans and enrich the diet of people suffering from AIDS who come to the centre.
A deep well will supply the mission centre with drinking water. There occurred some problems as at the depth of 12 meters diggers came across rocks; however, they managed to dig through them and water is already supplied to the kindergarten and the training centre. The costs of building two wells ranged within the amount of EUR 1000.
