Water Reservoir at Ambodibonara, Madagaskar
Building a shower, toilets and a water reservoir which are to be used by local people gathering at Ambodibonara (central mission in the bush area) on the occasion of various sessions.
Missionaries who take care of the area strive mainly for the improvement of hygiene level and protection of people's health. So far, the conditions of their living are very poor: they take drinking water from the nearby (500 m) river, which, of course, leads to the spread of diseases, parasites, there is no shower or toilets at the mission, ...
The reservoir is needed for rainwater. Unfortunately, the buildings are located on the hill. The FID's (non-governmental organization) attempt made some time ago to build a well for local people, below the mission, has proved unsuccessful: there is no water in the well!
Each year, the mission at Ambodibonara is full of different groups of approximately 2000 people (from the same village and surrounding areas) coming and going, where children are the largest group. Even 250 people arrive at weekly meetings. They do not have any access to water now.
February, 2009. We have managed to complete the works at the construction of sanitary facilities for the people of Ambodibonara
